Frames from the 1984 classic, Nineteen Eighty-Four

George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four was made into a movie in 1956, and again in 1984. The second film follows the novel closely, and is one of the most beautiful of all love stories. The part where Winston is imprisoned and tortured is a brilliant metaphor for the political use of psychiatry in 1948 English society, and throughout the world. Every responsible citizen must watch this film at least once (and read the novel).
