This is my attempt at a universal classification system - a work of taxonomy (iterative metaphysics). The categories are arranged from top to bottom, from least to greatest complexity; and left to right, from greatest to least complexity. Each category is an extension of the one before, and each subcategory is a direct subdivision of its category. This creates a tree structure, that appears to make sense. :)
I believe that these categories (or something like them) are a basic part of reality itself - the information structure of everything. Instead of science, applied science, art and culture simply being human achievements, I propose that they actually “achieved” us. Like the Mandelbrot set contains incomplete images of itself, so our brains are images of our universe.
Please note:
There are many categories yet to be included.
Many of the categories, subcategories, etc, of science, applied science and art, are based on professions, which were defined by culture.
Subcategories do not imply that they are the only forms. Every category contains an implied miscellaneous subcategory.
The subcategories of mathematics are reflected in each subcategory’s sub-subcategories, after the first 2.
The 9 basic pure sciences are based on the 9 fundamental meanings of life: to exist, move, develop, reproduce, survive, experience, learn, relate and progress.
The 4 basic applied sciences are based on the 8 basic real sciences (mathematics being abstract), taken 2 at a time.
There are 4 static and 4 dynamic basic artforms, each based on 0 to 3 dimensions (the zeroth dimension being only in the mind). In the static artforms, time belongs to the one who experiences, while in the dynamic artforms, time belongs to the artist.
Taste is not actually a sense (each true sense is processed in a separate part of the brain), but the simplest dynamic artform. Ie. dynamic intelligence.
Spirituality is the art of artistic combination. When limited to only combining the second and third static and dynamic basic artforms, it’s known as multimedia.
Applied science is practical science, whereas culture is collective art.
The 6 basic forms of culture are the ancient “sciences” of where, who, what, how, why and when.
The 4 basic religions reflect degrees of insight into human nature.
The 4 basic forms of history are the cultural equivalents of (and inspired) the 4 basic applied sciences.
True (medical) eugenics is concerned with the elimination of genuine disease genes, through selective breeding (eg. selective abortion using IVF), and genetic engineering.
Totalitarianism, aka monotheism, is defined as the basic religion that is driven more by deception than delusion. Ie. where politics is more important than faith.
Each form of rape approximates the psychological damage caused by all simpler forms. Eg. the forms more complex than sexual rape involve sexual rape.
Polygamy is commonly known as sexual competition, and preexecution as execution and mock execution.
True conservatism is far more cowardly, insidious and political than mere Conservative politics.
